25 years in a cut-throat industry like hifi is a long time and bruce brisson's MIT has not only survived that long but seems to be doing even better than ever.
truth to be told, i have always had phobia towards cables which have network boxes with them. they always seem to curtail high frequencies. but many old timers vouched that MIT cables have the best separation and soundstage layering in high-end cables.
MIT's first full-featured power conditioner, the z powerbar, piques my interest immensely. it has this technology called PFC, which stands for power factor correction which is supposed to maximize AC efficiency by controlling the AC sine wave's phase angle.
power factor has been dubbed by some local electrical engineers as the main reason why the local AC supply is not good enough for hifi.
USD1,699 (RM6,000) isn't a lot of money for conditioner providing 10 outlets (5 duplex). i hope to get a chance to audition this product.

I think most people are more interested in the sound,rather than what goes on inside..If all it has is a single pebble that they dig out in Chow kit but sound good ,most people[at least those that I know ]would still go for it....

Hey it is your money,and nobody is forcing anyone to buy.
I think in the end of the day,only you can decide whether it is worth your hard earned money..
But Maggielurva,I think it would be nice if you could review this....,

Well, you can speculate all you like, but as what TG Koh said, you spend your $$$, you decide.
If the products (Shunyata, Audience, PS Audio, MIT etc.) float your boat and make a positive change in your sound, it deosn't matter how you do it, as long as you think it is worth the money and you can afford it.
When you eat lobster fried noodles, you are not going to complain how much the restaurant is charging. If you are not happy, you can always cook yourself, but you'll miss the nice restaurant settings/ambience as well as the dining experience.
Same here for power conditioners. If you think you can do it cheaper or better, by all means DIY, but you will never get the packaging and overall ownership experience.

Long before power conditioners and power cords became essential accessories for audiophiles, MIT were among the first few companies to offer hi-end power cords and power conditioners some 20 over years ago. At that time there were only a few players in the market for such stuff, such as Aural Symphonics and XLO etc. I remembered my first audiophile power cord being the Z-Cord with a plastic block in the middle just like their cables. I also bought the MIT Z Power Center Conditioner at around that time. It lasted me around 10 years before I upgraded to something else.
thanks to the internet, consumers/audiophiles can now make better informed decisions of their purchases. You can read of various hi-end/commercial ripoff cases. People who have the $$$ to spend on nice chassis, some bling here and there obviously couldnt care less. But there are also people who can now go buy identical parts for a few bucks from mouser or newark and achieve the same sonic results.
Yes anonymous,call me naive but i am very Proud of our Maggielurva and his team....
There are people who are audiophiles,but Maggielurva is an audiophile,record producer,record store owner[ex] and much more.that makes him very creadible,and I trust him a lot.
Well Lil'Kc might be writing for some foreign publications but This is truly our own..

Some people do not mind paying 20 RM for Nasik lemak in Hilton but I prefer my 60 cents nasi lemak in alor setar
These are my thoughts on PC:
1] a must for all sytstem..ALL CDP and preamp needs them;for power amp you have to try some like it some do not.
2]Shunyata and Audience seems to be the pack leaders,and rightly so...Everything else needs to stack themselves against these 2.
3]Some system likes passive,some system like active power conditioning but any system,certainly in Malaysia needs some kind of PC..

Yes most power conditioners have cap and resistors with some very nice cables and chasis. Plus they are all branded.
The above you can DIY although may not look as nice and no fancy brand to show your visitors.
Some PLC have QRT in them which you can buy separately as a stand alone.
However, all commercial PLC need to have safety and power req'ts so all will come with circuit breakers, surge protectors etc. These additions actually make the sound worse.
So a DIY PLC (if you know what to do) may be a good idea. Or better still, get it locally done. Just open up a Hydra or an Audience and see whats's inside. Make sure to remove the circuit breakers and surge protectors (MOVs).

I agree with Anonymous at 3:53.. in many cases a power conditioner can be DIY-ed at a tiny fraction of the cost of a commercial unit and be sonically very competitive. There are many recipes on the net eg. the ones by Jon risch are very popular.
If you are not sure on what to do, then better get a commercial unit or get someone to do for you.
For those who are adventurous, DIY is fun and rewarding. Search the net and find out more. The passive PLC still uses some caps and resistors. The purist will look to the Furutech/Acoustic Revive distributors which only has some RFI/EMI absorptive material.
So a combination of the right caps and ERS and proper vibration control on the DIY PLC will do wonders at a fraction of the commercial unit. Again leave out the circuit breakers and MOVs.
