a little bird told me that there's going to be a new distributor for b&w speakers and classe line of electronics....

frankly, both brands have lost a fair bit of grounds in the malaysian market. classe, especially with its new curvaceous design hasn't really gained much support. remember what i said earlier about the dealer/distributor must know how to position their products in the market?

the high-end speaker brand that really does well in the last couple of years is marten design fro sweden.

here's hoping that the new distributor can resuscitate both brands!

Hi wellcome back!!

the problem with both brands before were they were way overpriced espe cially in Malaysia..

Most people looking for Classe ended up with Simaudio and those looking for B&W ended up with plethora of oter makers.

In Malaysia people are very cost sensitve and enjoy their bargains...

Classe has moved on to cocentrate on home thetre I feel .

I love the Classe of old ,one of the best SS amp in my mind but of late I think they are trying to repositioned themselves.Hey the audiophiles community normally know their stuff and you can't hide technical deficiency under the facade of cosmetic changes.

As for B&W ,if only they spend less for the ad on backcovers of hi-fi mag....It's not tyhat they not good but you gett less sound for your pound...

marten design with a ceramic drivers, provides a novelty that we are not used to having and the dealers are nice bunch of people too.

b&w has abandoned us audiophilesand classe should have done better .Very ,very good amp they made,I often wonder why tey are struggling here..

I think the competition between B&W and Focal brought about a lot of breakthrough in Loudspeaker design

I dont understand why Both are manufacturers hasn't got a larger presence in Malaysia.

both givess very safe sound

I think the problem lies in the fact that both classe and b&w belong to the same group of companies..

you know ,they discourage Classe owners from trying out other speakers, which I think resuls in inferioor sound coming out..

classe is as good as krell ,mark levinson, bryston etc..

b&w wants to be everything to everyone...I think the will be like Jamo soon ,,if they are not carefull

I actually likeb&w.
A lot of my audiophiles friends snubbed me for this, because the name is not glamorous enought..but they are one of the few manufacturers that make their own drivers and has a strong research traditions...

classe is also another vfavourite of mine and you cannot go wrong with their amplifications range..

agreed that classe of old (circa early 90s to mid-90s) was good and a lot of them can still be found in secondhand shops in good conditions.

i guess longevity in audio does not come easily. b&w has largely lost its glamour with the new generation of audiophiles. today, audiophiles go for marten, kharma, mbl etc etc. even wilson and avalon (hot brands in the 90s) have somewhat lost some grounds.

in audio business, if you don't evolve with changing times, you will lose flavour very fast.
