just got my hk pressing from yes!asia online cd store. now this is what i call an audiophile cd.

those who have bought the malaysian pressing, sorry, mate, please throw it away or chuck it into the drain. it is at best 60% of hk pressing. hk pressing is richer, more transparent, more air, more details, better imaging...more of everything. even the printing is more superior.

to universal malaysia, you also screwed up the 2nd photo in the booklet. so much for made-in-malaysia goods.

this is one last straw for me. never ever again.

note: i was told that universal malaysia only brought in a single batch of 100 pieces of hk pressings, so you have to be fast if you want to buy the imported version locally.

That is mean Malaysia don't have any good Press Machine to produce good quality audio Cd?? If this is True, I am worry about your <2v1g> album will be spoiled by Malaysia pressing quality.

it is as much as about the pressing process as the key people in charge of the process, which in this case, the QC fella in universal (the label) and QC fella in the factory.

you see, the master tape is also key in this process. in cai qin case, universal hk could and most likely have sent a duplicate of the master to universal malaysia (and other countries). and universal malaysia does not have any audiophile people in charge!!! so when the master is reproduced as a sampler in the print factory, the QC fella would have no idea what sort of requirements universal malaysia wanted hence he just went ahead with the duplicate process.

in 2V1G case, we are the owner of the master tape (hence no duplicates) and we - audiophiles no less - are going to QC the sampler from the factory. and me being in charge, you can be assured that it would sound good ;-)

So you are saying Malaysian pressings are of pure quality because there is no proper QC?
I do hope you are right as I was under the impression that our equipment was not up to par.
I also know Australian pressings are even worse than Malaysian. QC again?

hi anon,

since this is my virgin audiophile cd project, i can't give you an authoritative answer on the quality of press machine(s) in malaysia until much later. all i can say is i will be critical when i compare the master with the glass sample from the press factory before i approve the duplication. nothing can escape my ears and my hifi system. if the gap/deviation in sonics is too big, we will just drop our current press factory and search for the best one. hopefully, we don't need to go outside malaysia ;-)

hi keat,

the soul of the music does not change but at least aurally it is much more pleasing now. the enhancement in sonics (for the HK pressing) is like a plain gal having extra dimples on her cheek, making her more alluring and attractive ;-) i can definitely tolerate a musically so-so album which is well-recorded.
