Leslie, thanks for the intro. Hope you'll recover your expensive mic very soon and in mint condition!
My interest is in gadgets... any kind that I find interesting enough. Although I will try to keep my posts to AV related stuff, I will post anything else that I like to share with you.
And do feel free to drop me a note if you like to discuss any related topic. I will post a reply or the discussion in this blog!

Please do not treat a blog post like replying email. Ok?
sure. It will be through this kind of thread discussion or via email. If it is a topic that someone would like me to look into and it is worth posting as a blog topic, then I will do that. Of course the moderator can edit or remove any posting deemed unsuitable - that's the purpose of the moderator. Cheers
anon,
gadgetbuzzer is new to the blogosphere, we should extend a warm welcome instead of telling him how to blog. i am sure being a good writer he is, he will develop his own style in due course.
gadgetbuzzer,
a blog does not need to be a review or lengthy discourse. it can be personal musings, experiential sharing or even random thoughts. just write whatever you feel comfortable as long as you think it would interest the readers. personally, i would like to know more about apple lossless format, whether it can reach high fidelity in the long term... what's your thoughts on that?
gadgetbuzzer...
Welcome welcome to the world of blogging. Speak your mind mate! Looking forward to read your thoughts....
In theory, Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) is a lossless format and should therefore sound similar to the original wav. But these things don't normally work out this way though in practice.
Actually I have not thoroughly tested playing back ALAC on my audio system. The testing that I did comparing MP3 (@ 320 kbps) to ALAC through my earphones on ipod was obvious that the uncompressed ALAC is clearly better.
I did playback the iPod using my hifi before but without digital out, it lacked sound dynamics i.e. sounded dull.
Maybe when I get around to testing it on my friend's Slim Device Transporter, I might do a proper piece later on.
hi gadget guy,
i was hoping you could dedicate one post just on lossless format ;-)
